Front Cover: Jasta 72 by Mike O'Neal. This recent painting depicts German ace, Ltn. Karl Menckhoff and his Fokker D.VII in flight. After 95th Aero Squadron pilot Lt. Walter Avery shot down Menckhoff, he cut the "M" monogram from the fuselage of Menckhoff's aircraft to keep as a souvenir. In a moving ceremony at the recent "Double Aces" seminar in Washington, D.C., this priceless artifact was retruned to Menckhoff's son Gerhard by Lt. Avery's daughter, Bette Avery Applegate.
